I have a church fair coming up this weekend and for the first time I’m going to be trying to sell my art. To this end, I decided to create a series of minis last night – 6” x 6” (15cm x 15cm) paintings. Being crazy about flowers, I chose three to focus on. The idea was to do line drawings and leave the flower a flat colour and paint a contrasting colour around it.

The first step The first step, the blue against the orange made my eyes wobble – and it just felt flat and meh!

It didn’t look at all as I had imagined it, so I uhmmed and aaahed, made coffee, pottered around and decided to just go ahead and do a second one using that same idea anyway – I thought maybe another colour combination might make me happier. That worked out in an even less satisfactory way…
