Beaded Curtain Project

I love shiny things! Glitter…tinsel…shiny glass ornaments…crystal and glass beads…stained glass windows…mirrors…diamond-paned windows…Moroccan lanterns…OK…any kind of glass lanterns…I love them all!  Light, bright, airy and happy! I have a general plan for what I’d like to do with our craft room and bringing in more light and sparkle is a must. It’s a dark room on the east side of our house. It only gets light in the early morning hours and while there are 4 windows, one set looks out onto our carport. Right now, it’s dark and the wooden walls and single overhead light are doing nothing to help. I plan to create some Roman shades in light-colored fabric for the windows and hang a beaded curtain over each one. This way, when the shades are up, there will be lots of color and shine…I hope. I’ve also got a small collection of candle lanterns I want to hang up and a lamp set I want to purchase. So far, this is what I’ve got. Thanks to my daughters and my future DiL, I’ve got a total of 21 strands ready to hang.

P.S. I’m on Snapchat as artcreationist so if you’d like to connect with me there, look me up! 🙂 I’m also on Periscope ( @ArtCreationist5) but I haven’t decided what my first video should be about, or how I can accomplish it well. I hope to have something up soon.

As you can see, it just depends on which item you want as to which site you’ll need to visit. I was recently made aware of another site which I’ll be checking out called Artflakes. My artist friend Care Halverson, who does beautiful work, is the one who called my attention to it. Please do visit her deviantArt page to check it out by clicking here!

One new thing to note, I’m removing the “like” button from my posts from this point on. It’s a depressing thing I’d like to remove from my feed. If possible, I would prefer interaction with my readers. To me, giving an honest opinion and/or sharing the link means more than clicking a button on the bottom of a post.

And with that, I do believe today’s post is complete! I’m going to try making the other artwork I previously loaded onto the Society6 and Redbubble sites available on other products but my internet is being very uncooperative. I’ve been trying to load the correctly sized pictures to the sites for the past 3 days with no luck. I’ll keep troubleshooting with my husband and do my best to work it all out. Thanks for stopping by today. If you enjoy my work, please share these links with your friends and remember to support your local artists, artisans, thespians, farmers, and small businesses! Your courteous comments are welcome here!

I wanted to fingerpaint again. It had been quite a while since I’d done so. I also wanted to try working with larger canvases. I truly enjoyed creating this piece. I used acrylic paint and my fingers and hands. My signature is the only part I used a brush for. Next time, I’ll use a smaller brush for that but I do like the way the letters look. I’m keeping that in mind for possible use in future creations.

In other news, I’m going to start uploading some of my work to Society6 and Redbubble. Both are nifty outlets for artists of all genres and offer a wide range of items upon which art can be printed. I love variety and versatility. Having my work at several locations may make it easier for people to purchase it. I’m no longer doing this as a business but I won’t quit my hobby. If it turns out to be something worth all the time and effort that goes into making a business work, then I’ll see about that. Otherwise, I’m a hobbyist from this point on. Please do contact me if you are interested in one of my works! You can comment here and I will get back with you as soon as I’m able.

Also, if you like what you see here or in another post of my works, please do share the link or reblog! It would mean a great deal to me. Thanks for stopping by!

Light The Path

"Light The Path" - Acrylics on cardboard by Melody Kittles - The nifty light effect on the painting is not my mad artistic skills, but rather from the kitchen light. *shrugs* I'm honest. :) I did have fun painting this and it came very close to what I envisioned at the start. Today's art challenge was "a light in the dark" and this was my interpretation. I hope you like it. Please click the photo for more info or to purchase a print.

*The nifty light effect on the painting is not my mad artistic skills, nor was it a result of my fledgling skills in Gimp. Rather that beautiful glow came from the kitchen light, which is usually so unfriendly. *shrugs* I’m honest. 🙂 I did have fun painting this and it came very close to what I envisioned at the start. Today’s art challenge was “a light in the dark” and this was my interpretation. I hope you like it. Today’s Art Challenge: Skyline

When I first heard about today’s art challenge, I cringed. We don’t get many opportunities to see a real city skyline. Then I realized it happened to coincide with a trip we needed to make to New Orleans, LA. I was so happy!

…And then I thought about it some more. The nifty thing about this art challenge group on facebook is that the artist has the freedom to choose the interpretation of the theme and the medium they wish to use. This is great for me because it means I’ll get to participate on more days than I would otherwise. I don’t always get to break out the paints. Neither do I always have the time to devote to a detailed pencil sketch.

So the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I didn’t have to do a traditional skyline and since when did I prefer traditional in most of my work or life choices? Not for many years now!

Here’s my contribution to the fb group for today’s challenge: “Skyline.”

I know the art challenge theme was singular but I chose to display multiple "skylines" in my interpretation of the theme. I used my cell to snap the shot and Pixlr Express to edit it. Clicking on the photo will take you to my deviantART gallery where you can view the photo, download a copy, or purchase a print, if you so choose! :)

This is not the first photo of ‘skylines’ I snapped. I also got the one below and I had a really hard time choosing between the two. John helped me choose the above photo for the challenge. So this one remains a second. Which one do you prefer? Feel free to leave a comment.

Second option for the 'skyline' challenge... I used my cell to snap the shot and Pixlr Express to edit it. If you click on the photo, it will take you to my deviantART gallery where you can view the photo, download a copy, or buy a print. Oh! And please don't be confused by the different title on this photo. It's not really titled at all. I just snapped this shot first, so I labeled it as such when I uploaded it to deviantART.
