“Summer Daydream” is a fanciful artwork, created by Melody Kittles. It is available as an art print or photo gift through my deviantArt gallery. You can click on this picture to get there!
I wanted to fingerpaint again. It had been quite a while since I’d done so. I also wanted to try working with larger canvases. I truly enjoyed creating this piece. I used acrylic paint and my fingers and hands. My signature is the only part I used a brush for. Next time, I’ll use a smaller brush for that but I do like the way the letters look. I’m keeping that in mind for possible use in future creations.
In other news, I’m going to start uploading some of my work to Society6 and Redbubble. Both are nifty outlets for artists of all genres and offer a wide range of items upon which art can be printed. I love variety and versatility. Having my work at several locations may make it easier for people to purchase it. I’m no longer doing this as a business but I won’t quit my hobby. If it turns out to be something worth all the time and effort that goes into making a business work, then I’ll see about that. Otherwise, I’m a hobbyist from this point on. Please do contact me if you are interested in one of my works! You can comment here and I will get back with you as soon as I’m able.
Also, if you like what you see here or in another post of my works, please do share the link or reblog! It would mean a great deal to me. Thanks for stopping by!
I’ve been busy working on more drawings and mixed media things. As I try new things and get new ideas, I have to figure out how to put my ideas on paper. It takes times so I won’t be posting as often. In the mean time, I snapped a few photos. I hope you enjoy them!

For those of you who don’t know, this is my husband John. He blogs at J.D. Kittles Photography. I don’t know who snaps more photos of whom! He’s taking a short break right now from the blog but he’ll be back at it soon. Look forward to it! I know I am!
I’ve been fighting a nasty cold all week. I’m only just getting my voice back after 4 days without it. I sound like a squeaky hinge. But I have been working on more art and this is my latest. It took a total of two days work. It’s done in layers and the first layer had to dry before I could finish it with the details.
“Gilded Blessings” – Mixed Media artwork by Melody Kittles – watercolor, acrylic, ink – For more info, please click the photo to go to my deviantART page.
I feel terrible today. Don’t you just hate colds? They seem to hang on. I started working on a mixed media piece yesterday but couldn’t bring myself to finish it. Just too worn out and blech. I did finish it today, though. I used mixed media paper (7 x 10), drawing pens, brush pens, and watercolors. This is a very simple practice work I used to try to get used to my watercolor paint. I really enjoyed the results. To see more information about it, of if you’d like to purchase a print, please click on the photo to go to my deviantART page.
“I Made It!” – mixed media artwork by Melody Kittles
Yesterday, I edited my first photo in Gimp! John walked me through some of the steps I had trouble with but I did the work.
We visited our local Depot Museum and took photos of a caboose they have on display. I don’t know about anyone else (besides the caboose operators) but I was so sad when they stopped using the cabooses! We brought the girls with us and grabbed a Frosty for fortification in the hot sun. (Yes, it’s still hot here, though it is cooling off in the mornings and evenings.) Here’s the photo I edited. I have a few more I want to play around with but this is the one I chose to work with first. I had a definite result in mind. This is pretty close to what I wanted to achieve, so I’m happy with it. Another plus when using Gimp, is that I get to sign my work! Yea!
“Days Gone By” – Cabooses are only a memory now… For more info click the photo to go to my deviantART page, where you can download a digital copy for personal use or purchase your own print!
I haven’t given up on the art challenge group. I just haven’t had any extra time to devote to the topics. Some of them are really…um…challenging! I snapped quite a few photos over the past weekend and I’m editing them slowly as time and my schedule allow. Here are three of them. For more information on any of them, or to download a digital copy or purchase a print (of the first two only), click on the photos to go to my deviantART pages for each of them. I did use Pixlr Express to edit these. I had better luck with the last two, as far as getting close to my vision for each of them.
“Line ‘Em Up”
“Doing What He Loves” – I enjoy catching photos of John while he’s working. 🙂 This photo is not for sale or download.
I do hope to have a bit of artwork to show you in tomorrow’s post, or maybe in the one after. See you then!
I missed Tuesday during my 5 day photo challenge but I still posted 5 photos. Here are the last three photos I submitted for Days 3, 4, & 5 of my challenge. I use Pixlr Express for most of my editing and I did so for all my black and white challenge shots. For those of you who didn’t know, I’m selling my photos that I think are OK to sell on DeviantART. Some of them might make nice gifts for your friends and/or family, so please feel free to stop by and check them out! And don’t forget to check out John’s wonderful photographs on his blog. All his photos are for sale. You only need to contact him for details.
